VR decoration firm gets 20 million yuan in funding, market leader unclear

COLDSKY.CN – Tan Min, CEO of VR-inspired home decoration startup Guju.com.cn, said 20 million yuan in new venture funding in a Series A round will help the company upgrade its VR system and improve it furniture supply chain.

Guju.com.cn, established in May 2012 in Shanghai, offers full services in design, decoration, materials and furniture supply using a platform that allows customers to make DIY designs using existing models and easily create a VR space on the basis of their house layout in one hour.

The startup boasts more than one million pictures of furniture and decoration reality projects and says it integrates “VR design+ VR experience + furniture shopping + shipping and installment”.

Tan said Guju.com.cn developed the VR system on Unreal Engine 4, a suite of integrated tools for game developers, allowing rapid design and immersive experiences.

The website said it has 100,000 registered designers, including who are 30,000 active, and has entered into cooperation with more than 800 decoration companies in 20 cities. It also promises a discount of 30 percent on decoration materials bought on its website.

Few home decoration or furniture enterprises in China are shy from touting their VR services, claiming they can enhance customer experiences by bringing interior design dreams to life. But it remains unclear who the market leaders are and also difficult to tell the differences in VR solutions.

Among other companies in the sector are panguvr.com backed by the HTC VIVE X fund and dabanjia.com backed by 40 million yuan from Macalline in 2017.
